Oleofobinen

Oleofobinen is a term describing the property of a material to repel oils and fats. It is derived from the Greek words "oleo" meaning oil and "phobos" meaning fear. A surface that is oleophobic will not allow oily substances to spread or adhere to it. This is in contrast to hydrophobic surfaces, which repel water.

Oleophobic properties are often achieved through the use of specific chemical treatments or surface modifications. These treatments create a low surface energy that makes it energetically unfavorable for oils to wet the surface. Common examples of oleophobic materials are found in coatings for electronic devices like smartphones and tablets, where they help prevent fingerprint smudges. They are also used in protective clothing, textiles, and on various surfaces where resistance to greasy stains is desired. The effectiveness of an oleophobic surface is often measured by its contact angle with oil. A higher contact angle indicates a greater degree of oleophobicity.
