Ohjaamot

ohjaamo is the Finnish term for the driver's cab or control cabin found in motor vehicles and heavy machinery. It designates the enclosed space from which an operator controls and oversees the machine, including seating, the steering or control levers, instrument panel, and access to essential systems. The ohjaamo is central to safety, ergonomics, and visibility, and its layout is designed to give the operator a clear field of view and easy reach to controls.

The term is used across multiple sectors. In road transport, ohjaamot are the driver compartments of trucks, buses, and other commercial vehicles. In rail, the cab of a locomotive or train unit is also referred to as an ohjaamo in Finnish technical language. In construction and agriculture, tractors, excavators, cranes, and harvesters have their own ohjaamot, which may differ in size and control configuration but share the same basic purpose.
