Obyvatelstvo is a term used in demography to describe the population living in a defined geographic area, such as a country, region, or municipality. It refers to residents of the area, though statistics often also report on citizenship, origin, or other characteristics as supplementary data. The size and structure of obyvatelstvo shape and are shaped by social, economic, and political processes.

Key indicators used to describe obyvatelstvo include total population, population density, age composition (often shown as a population pyramid), median age, sex ratio, birth rate, death rate, life expectancy, and migration balance.
