Objektívs

Objektívs is a term used in several languages to denote two related concepts: an optical objective (the lens assembly in cameras and microscopes) and an objective (a goal) in planning and research. Depending on language and context, the word may refer to either the physical lens or to the intended outcome.

In microscopy and photography, the objective is the lens closest to the object. It sets the initial magnification and the resolution by its focal length and numerical aperture. Microscope objectives are labeled by magnification (e.g., 4x, 40x) and by design (achromat, apochromat, plan).
