Objavile

Objavile is a grammatical form found in several South Slavic languages, notably Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian, and Montenegrin. It is the feminine plural past participle of the perfective verb objaviti, meaning to publish or to announce. In sentences it functions with the auxiliary verb biti to form the past tense and must agree in gender and number with the subject. Therefore, objavile is used when the subject is feminine and plural, such as in reference to a group of women or other feminine plural nouns.

In practice, objavile appears in contexts describing actions completed in the past by a feminine plural subject. A typical construction uses the auxiliary su, as in One su objavile saopštenje (They published a statement) or Žene su objavile vijesti (The women published the news). For other subjects, different past participle forms are required: objavio for masculine singular, objavila for feminine singular, or objavili for masculine plural. The form objavile thus occupies a specific place in the broader verbal conjugation system of these languages.

Etymology traces objavile to the root objavi- from objaviti, with the suffix -le marking feminine plural past participle.
