Oberleitungsschiene
Oberleitungsschiene is a German term that translates to "overhead conductor rail" or "contact rail" in English. It refers to a type of current collection system used primarily in electric railways and trams. Unlike pantographs, which collect current from an overhead wire, the Oberleitungsschiene is a rigid or semi-rigid bar that runs parallel to the track.
This system is typically employed in areas where a traditional overhead catenary system might be impractical
There are several types of Oberleitungsschiene systems, varying in their design and method of current transfer.
