Oberbrüden

Oberbrüden is a district of the town of Schorndorf in the Rems-Murr district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located in the east of Schorndorf. The origin of the name "Brüden" is likely derived from the Middle High German word "bruten," meaning to breed or to hatch, possibly referring to a place where animals were raised. "Ober" signifies its position as the upper or higher of two settlements, distinguishing it from Unterbrüden.

The village has a history dating back to at least the Middle Ages. Like much of the surrounding region, its development was tied to agriculture and later to the industrialization that occurred in the Schorndorf area. The integration of Oberbrüden into Schorndorf as a municipal district occurred at a later date.

Today, Oberbrüden retains a more rural character compared to the urban center of Schorndorf, though it has seen some residential development. It is situated within the Neckar-Enz hilly region. The district benefits from its proximity to Schorndorf's amenities and transport links while offering a quieter living environment. Agricultural land and forests surround the settlement, contributing to its landscape. The local infrastructure includes a primary school and some smaller businesses.
