It is a type of engineered wood product that is manufactured by compressing and bonding layers of wooden strands together with a synthetic resin. The strands are oriented in specific directions within each layer, contributing to the board's strength and rigidity.

OSBlevystä is commonly used as a building material, particularly in the construction of walls, roofs, and floors. Its structural properties make it a popular alternative to traditional plywood, offering comparable strength at a potentially lower cost. It is also favored for its consistent quality and reduced tendency to warp or twist. The manufacturing process involves using wood from sustainably managed forests, making it an environmentally conscious choice in many applications.

The production of OSBlevystä involves several steps. Wood logs are debarked and then cut into large, flat strands. These strands are then mixed with binders, typically urea-formaldehyde or phenol-formaldehyde resins, and waterproof waxes. The mixture is then formed into large mats, with the strands in each layer oriented perpendicular to the strands in adjacent layers. These mats are then pressed under high heat and pressure to form the finished OSBlevystä panels. The resulting boards are known for their durability, strength, and resistance to moisture.
