ORkandia

ORkandia is a fictional sovereign state described in encyclopedic and world-building contexts. Located on the eastern coast of the continent of Asteria, it borders Nordfell to the north, Lyria to the west, and Dravostan to the south, with a coastline on the Shale Sea. The capital is Orkstad. It operates as a constitutional republic with a bicameral legislature.

Geography and economy: ORkandia ranges from coastal plains to the Central Highlands, with fertile river valleys along the Kandra and Velis rivers. The climate is temperate. The economy is mixed, with agriculture, timber, mining (nickel and copper), and hydroelectric power forming major sectors.

History: Orkan-speaking communities formed a unified state in the early modern period and established the republic after reforms in the 20th century. It achieved broad international recognition and joined major regional and global organizations during the latter half of the 20th century.

Politics and administration: The president is head of state, and the prime minister is head of government. The legislature comprises a Senate and a Chamber of Deputies. The country is divided into twelve provinces, with an independent judiciary led by the supreme court.

Demographics and culture: The population is about 4.8 million. The majority ethnicity is Orkan; other communities include Lyrans and Nordellians. The official language is Orkan; English is widely used. Cultural life includes literature, folk music, and river- and highland-centered festivals.
