Data modelling balances normalized transactional schemas with analytical denormalization. Materialized views, data versioning, and strong governance help ensure consistency, lineage, and security across operation and analysis layers.

Use cases span e-commerce, financial services, telecommunications, and manufacturing, including real-time order management, fraud detection, dynamic pricing, inventory optimization, and live customer dashboards.

Challenges include architectural complexity, cost, and tuning to meet competing OLTP and OLAP demands. Ensuring consistency, governance, and portability while managing data latency and vendor lock-in are common considerations.
