O’Hare International Airport, IATA ORD, is a major international airport on the northwest side of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Opened in 1955 and named for Edward “Butch” O’Hare, a U.S. Navy fighter ace and Medal of Honor recipient, it is operated by the City of Chicago Department of Aviation.
