Nöjesträdgård, meaning "pleasure garden" in Swedish, refers to a historical type of public garden established primarily for entertainment and recreation. These gardens emerged in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries and gained significant popularity. Unlike formal botanical gardens or private estates, nöjesträdgårdar were designed to be accessible to the general public, often featuring a variety of attractions and amenities.

Common features of a nöjesträdgård included landscaped grounds with winding paths, ornamental flowerbeds, and water features like fountains and ponds. They often housed structures such as gazebos, bandstands, and pavillions where visitors could rest or enjoy performances. In addition to the natural beauty, these gardens frequently offered entertainment, which could range from musical concerts and theatrical performances to outdoor cafes and restaurants. In some cases, more adventurous attractions like labyrinths or even small menageries might be found.
