Näkötoimintojen
Näkötoimintojen refers to visual functions in Finnish. This encompasses the entire process of seeing, from how light enters the eye to how the brain interprets the information received. It involves several key components working in concert. The eyes, with their intricate structures like the cornea, lens, and retina, are responsible for capturing light and converting it into electrical signals. The retina contains photoreceptor cells, rods and cones, which are sensitive to light intensity and color, respectively. These signals are then transmitted along the optic nerve to the brain, specifically to the visual cortex located in the occipital lobe. Here, the raw data is processed and interpreted, allowing us to perceive shapes, colors, movement, and depth.
Disruptions to any part of this complex system can lead to various visual impairments. These can range
