Nyálkahártyáin refers to the mucous membranes of the mouth. These are the moist tissues that line the inside of the oral cavity, including the cheeks, lips, gums, tongue, and the roof and floor of the mouth. The primary function of the oral mucosa is protection. It acts as a barrier against mechanical damage, pathogens, and harmful substances, while also playing a role in sensation, lubrication, and taste.
