Nurmialueille
Nurmialueille is a term used by local historians to describe a network of glacially carved valleys that run through the central part of the Finnish Lapland. The word is derived from the Finnish **nurm** (“stream”) and the Swedish **åäck** (“river valley”), and it is often accompanied by the suffix **-uille**, which denotes a collective concept in regional dialects. Geographically, the valley system lies between the Anarja and Varesi peaks, stretching for approximately 150 kilometres. The landscape is characterised by deep, steep-sided ravines, glacial lakes, and extensive boreal forest cover dominated by Scots pine and Norway spruce.
