NuhBEElah

NuhBEElah is a fictional city-state in the fantasy setting of Arvandor. It serves as a commercial and cultural hub in the lower delta of the Sable River. Its urban core features honey-colored stone and hexagonal façades inspired by beehives. The city is renowned for apiculture and related crafts.

The name combines “Nuh,” the legendary founder, and “BEElah,” from the local word for hive, reflecting its bee-centered economy and symbolism.

Located on the Sable River delta, the climate is temperate with marshlands to the south. The surrounding countryside yields honey, fruit, and grain, while apiaries cluster along canal edges.

NuhBEElah arose as a trading port in the early Kirin era, growing through river commerce and sea routes. It weathered several conflicts and rebuilt after a major raid in 412.

A Council of Guilds governs NuhBEElah, with a primus elected by guild vote every four years. The major guilds include Apiary, Weaver, Market, and Shipwright, which jointly shape policy and defense.

The economy centers on beekeeping, wax products, and trade in honey, textiles, and pottery. The annual Feast of the First Harvest celebrates the honey harvest with markets, music, and public beekeeping demonstrations.

Key sites include the Hive Tower, the hexagonal Market of Hexagons, and the Temple of the Queen Bee. The Hive Tower doubles as an astronomical observatory.
