Normativní

Normativní is an adjective in Czech meaning relating to norms, standards, or value judgments about how things should be. It is often used to distinguish prescriptive, evaluative frameworks from descriptive accounts of how things are.

In philosophy and ethics, normative theories and normative ethics address criteria of what is good, right, or valuable and prescribe how people ought to act. Normative statements express obligations, permissions, or values, in contrast to descriptive statements that describe facts.

In linguistics and language instruction, normativní sometimes describes prescriptive rules of a language—the normative grammar or spelling rules taught in schools and used to judge language use. This contrasts with descriptive linguistics, which records how language is actually used.
