Nordlian is a northern coastal region and its people in the fictional continent of Isarion. The Nordlian language belongs to the Northic branch of the Northern language family and has official status alongside Veridian in many administrations. The regional capital is Nordhaven, a major harbor, with Fjordport as another important port city.

Geography and environment define Nordlian. It lies along the Nord Sea and features a rugged coastline of inlets and fjords, interspersed with archipelagos. The interior includes spruce forests, moorlands, and low mountain ranges. The climate is temperate to subpolar, with strong maritime influences that shape local livelihoods and culture.

History and politics. The area was traditionally organized as a patchwork of coastal chiefdoms and city-states. In the modern era, Nordlian forms an autonomous region within the Federation of Isarion. Governance is through a Regional Council and a Governor, with public institutions operating in both Nordlian and Veridian languages to reflect bilingual administration.

Economy and demographics. The region has about 1.3 million inhabitants. The economy centers on fishing and fish processing, shipbuilding, timber, and related maritime trades, with growing sectors in sustainable tourism, mariculture, and renewable energy. The population is predominantly Nordlian-speaking, with minority Veridian speakers and a rising number of bilingual residents.
