Noldans

Noldans are a fictional Elven people created by J.R.R. Tolkien for his legendarium, primarily appearing in The Silmarillion and other writings. They are one of the three kindreds of Elves who made the Great Journey from Cuiviénen in the uttermost East to the Undying Lands of Aman. The Noldor, meaning "those who know," were renowned for their love of craftsmanship, knowledge, and skill in smithing and gem-cutting. They were the most gifted of all Elves in arts and sciences.

Their history is deeply intertwined with the Dark Lord Morgoth. In Aman, the Noldor were led by Fëanor, who forged the Silmarils, three magnificent jewels containing the light of the Two Trees of Valinor. When Morgoth stole the Silmarils and murdered Fëanor's father, Finwë, Fëanor swore a terrible oath, along with his seven sons, to reclaim the Silmarils at any cost. This oath led to the Noldor's rebellion against the Valar and their exile from Aman, a momentous event known as the "Flight of the Noldor."

Upon their arrival in Middle-earth, the Noldor waged long and bitter wars against Morgoth in Beleriand. Despite their martial prowess and courage, they suffered immense losses due to their oath, internal strife, and Morgoth's overwhelming power. Many Noldor eventually perished in these conflicts, though some survived and played significant roles in the later ages of Middle-earth, notably in the War of the Ring. Notable Noldor figures include Fëanor, Fingolfin, Finrod Felagund, and Galadriel.
