Nohkalikai
Nohkalikai is a striking waterfall located in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, India. It is the tallest plunge waterfall in India, with a height of 1,115 feet (335 meters). The falls are named after a legendary tale of a woman named Likai. According to local folklore, Likai was a mother who was tragically killed by her envious stepmother. The stepmother then served Likai's flesh to her own daughter. Upon discovering the horrific truth, Likai, in her grief and despair, jumped off the cliff from where the waterfall now cascades. The pristine pool at the base of the waterfall is believed to be where Likai met her end.
The Nohkalikai Falls are a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from far and wide. The surrounding
