Nivåkurvorna
Nivåkurvorna, also known as contour lines or isolines, are a fundamental concept in cartography and various scientific fields. They represent lines on a map or a diagram connecting points of equal value. The most common application is in topographic maps, where level curves, or contour lines, connect points of equal elevation above a given reference level, typically sea level. These lines are invaluable for understanding the shape and steepness of terrain. Where contour lines are closely spaced, it indicates a steep slope, while widely spaced lines suggest a gentler gradient.
Beyond topography, nivåkurvorna are used in meteorology to depict areas of equal atmospheric pressure (isobars) or
