Nitratsalte
Nitratsalte, or nitrate salt, is a salt derived from nitric acid (HNO3) in which the nitrate (NO3−) anion is paired with a positively charged counterion. In general terms, a nitrate salt has the formula M+ NO3− for monovalent cations, or Mx(NO3)y for multivalent cations, with the charge balanced to form a stable solid. Nitrate salts occur both as natural minerals and as laboratory-synthesized compounds.
Common examples include sodium nitrate (NaNO3), potassium nitrate (KNO3), ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3), and calcium nitrate (Ca(NO3)2).
Applications of nitrate salts are diverse. In agriculture, they provide a source of nitrogen for crops and
Production of nitrate salts typically involves neutralization or metathesis reactions between nitric acid and bases (for
Safety considerations include their role as strong oxidizers; they should be kept away from organic materials
