Nistkästen

Nistkästen, also known as nest boxes or birdhouses, are artificial nesting cavities designed to provide shelter and a safe place for birds to raise their young. They are typically constructed from wood, though other materials like ceramic or metal are sometimes used. The design of a nistkasten varies depending on the target bird species, with specific dimensions for the interior space, entrance hole size, and placement being crucial for attracting certain birds and deterring predators.

The primary purpose of installing nistkästen is to support bird populations, particularly in areas where natural nesting sites, such as old trees or dense hedges, have become scarce due to urbanization or changes in land management.
