Nilpferd
Nilpferd is the German word for hippopotamus. Hippopotamuses are large, semi-aquatic mammals native to sub-Saharan Africa. They are characterized by their barrel-shaped bodies, short legs, and large mouths. Despite their herbivorous diet, hippos are considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa due to their aggressive nature and territorial behavior. They spend most of their day submerged in rivers, lakes, and swamps to keep their skin cool and moist. At night, they emerge to graze on grasses.
There are two recognized species of hippopotamus: the common hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) and the pygmy hippopotamus
