Nicephorus
Nicephorus was a Byzantine emperor who ruled from 802 to 811. He was the son of Emperor Constantine VI and Empress Irene. Nicephorus ascended to the throne after his father's death, but his reign was marked by political instability and economic difficulties. He faced several rebellions and was eventually deposed by his general, Michael I Rangabe, in 811. Nicephorus was later blinded and exiled to a monastery, where he spent the rest of his life. His reign is often remembered for its tumultuous nature and the significant changes it brought to the Byzantine Empire.
