Niënor

Niënor was a character in J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium, appearing in The Silmarillion and The Children of Húrin. She was the daughter of Húrin Thalion and Morwen Eledhwen, and sister to Túrin Turambar and Lalaith. Niënor's life was tragically marked by the curse of Morgoth, which befell her family.

Upon fleeing her home with her mother and siblings due to the destruction of their ancestral lands, Niënor and her mother were separated from Túrin. Due to the curse, a peculiar enchantment affected Niënor, causing her to forget her own name and past. She was found by Túrin, who did not recognize her as his sister and gave her the name Níniel, meaning "Tear-Maiden" in Quenya, owing to her constant sorrow.

Níniel grew up with Túrin, unaware of their familial connection. Their bond deepened, and eventually, they married. It was only after their union that the full horror of their relationship, orchestrated by Morgoth's malice, was revealed. The discovery led to Níniel's profound despair and ultimate demise. She threw herself into the gorge of the River Sirion. Her tragic fate, like that of her brother, remains one of the most sorrowful tales in Tolkien's mythology.
