Neutraliseeritud

Neutraliseeritud is Estonian for "neutralized," formed as the past participle of the verb neutraliseerima (to neutralize). The term denotes that something has been rendered neutral, harmless, or inactive. It appears across scientific, industrial, and everyday language, often in compound forms such as neutraliseeritud lahus (neutralized solution) or neutraliseeritud toksiin (neutralized toxin). The word’s usage reflects the international vocabulary for neutralization and it has been integrated into Estonian through borrowings from German and English.

In chemistry, neutralization refers to a reaction between an acid and a base that produces a salt and water, moving the solution toward pH neutrality. In pharmacology and toxicology, a toxin or pathogen may be neutralized by antidotes, antitoxins, or inactivation procedures, producing a harmless form or a vaccine-quality component known as a toxoid.

In environmental science, neutralization may describe processes that raise acidity to neutral pH, such as buffering acidic rainfall in soils or waters. In public safety and security contexts, “neutraliseeritud” describes a threat, device, or target that has been rendered inoperative or non-threatening, often after intervention by authorities.
