Neurologilisi

Neurologilisi is not a widely established term in standard references. In most scholarly contexts, it is understood as a misspelling or variant of neurolinguistics, the interdisciplinary field that investigates how brain structure and function support language. When used, neurologilisi is typically intended to refer to the neural basis of linguistic abilities and their disruptions.

Neurolinguistics examines how linguistic knowledge is represented in the brain, how language is processed in real time, and how language learning relates to neural plasticity. It covers production, comprehension, reading and writing, as well as issues related to bilingualism, language acquisition, and developmental disorders. The field seeks to integrate findings from psychology, linguistics, neuroscience, and cognitive science to explain how language emerges and operates in the brain.

Methods used in neurolinguistics include functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), electroencephalography (EEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG), and noninvasive brain stimulation such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Lesion studies, neuropsychological data, and, where available, single-neuron recordings have historically contributed to mapping language functions to brain regions, notably in the left hemisphere around what are historically termed Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas. The field also leverages computational modeling to simulate language processing and its neural correlates.

History and scope: the study of the neural basis of language emerged from clinical observations of aphasia in the 19th century and matured with advances in cognitive neuroscience and imaging in the late 20th century. Today, neurolinguistics encompasses basic research on language representation and processing, as well as clinical applications.

Applications and challenges: the field informs language rehabilitation after stroke or injury, guides language education and assessment, and contributes to brain-inspired models for natural language processing. Challenges include variability across individuals and languages, methodological limits of imaging, and the complexity of disentangling language from broader cognitive processes.
