Neuraverkko

Neuraverkko, also known as neural network, is a subset of machine learning and artificial intelligence, inspired by the structure and function of biological neural networks. It is composed of interconnected nodes, or neurons, organized in layers. The first layer, called the input layer, receives data, while the last layer, known as the output layer, produces the final result. Between these, there can be one or more hidden layers that process the data through a series of mathematical operations.

The neurons in a neural network are connected by links, each with an associated weight that determines the strength of the connection. During the training phase, the network learns by adjusting these weights based on the input data and the desired output. This is typically done using an algorithm called backpropagation, which minimizes the error between the network's output and the actual target values.

Neural networks can be categorized into different types based on their structure and function. Feedforward neural networks, for example, have connections that do not form cycles, meaning information moves in only one direction. Recurrent neural networks, on the other hand, have cycles, allowing them to process sequential data and maintain a form of memory.

Neural networks have been successfully applied to a wide range of tasks, including image and speech recognition, natural language processing, and game playing. They have also been used in various fields such as healthcare, finance, and transportation, demonstrating their versatility and potential. However, they also face challenges like the need for large amounts of data, computational resources, and the interpretability of their decisions.
