Netzwerktopologie refers to the physical or logical arrangement of nodes and connections within a network. It defines how devices are interconnected and how data flows between them. There are several common network topologies, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

A bus topology connects all devices to a single central cable, known as the backbone. Data is transmitted along the bus, and all devices can access it. While simple and inexpensive, a break in the backbone cable can render the entire network inoperable.

In a star topology, all devices are connected to a central hub or switch. Data passes through the central device before reaching its destination. This topology is robust, as the failure of one connection does not affect the rest of the network, but it relies heavily on the central device.

A ring topology connects devices in a circular fashion, with each device connected to exactly two other devices. Data travels in one direction around the ring. Similar to a bus, a single break can disrupt the entire network, though some ring implementations offer redundancy.

A mesh topology offers the highest level of redundancy. In a full mesh, every device is connected to every other device. This provides multiple paths for data, ensuring high reliability, but it is complex and expensive to implement due to the number of connections required.

Hybrid topologies combine elements of two or more basic topologies to leverage their respective strengths and mitigate their weaknesses, creating more flexible and robust network designs. The choice of network topology depends on factors such as cost, scalability, reliability, and performance requirements.
