Netneysla

Netneysla is a fictional coastal city-state used in speculative fiction and worldbuilding. It lies on the southern shores of the Keloria archipelago, facing the Dorsaline Sea. With a population around 120,000, Netneysla serves as a regional hub for trade, governance, and culture in its maritime realm. The name is believed to derive from historical terms for “new harbor.”

Founded circa 1453 by merchant guilds, Netneysla grew as a trading outpost and naval waypoint. It gained de facto independence during late eighteenth-century regional conflicts and has been governed by a constitutional council since 1841. The city maintains a modest magistrate court and police service to administer local affairs.

The economy centers on the harbour, fisheries, shipyards, and a growing service sector, including finance and digital services. It operates a two-line tram system and a busy port with cargo facilities and ferry links to neighboring islands. Renewable-energy projects onshore and offshore power parts of the city’s infrastructure, supporting its sustainability goals.

Netneysla University, founded in 1876, specializes in maritime engineering, environmental science, and urban planning. Notable sites include the Old Fort, the Lighthouse of Asteris, and the Market of Winds. The population speaks Netni and regional dialects, with multilingual administration supporting diverse services.
