Netkerfisbúnaður
Netkerfisbúnaður is the Icelandic term for network hardware. This encompasses a wide range of physical devices that are essential for the functioning of any computer network, from small home setups to large enterprise systems and the global internet. Key components include routers, which direct data traffic between different networks, and switches, which connect devices within a local network and manage data flow. Network interface cards (NICs) are hardware components that allow a computer to connect to a network. Modems are used to modulate and demodulate signals, enabling communication over telephone lines or cable. Wireless access points facilitate wireless network connections. Firewalls, often implemented as hardware appliances, provide security by controlling incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predefined rules. Other important pieces of netkerfisbúnaður include hubs, bridges, and network cabling itself, such as Ethernet cables. The reliable operation and proper configuration of this hardware are critical for ensuring efficient data transmission, connectivity, and network security.
