Nestepainemittarit, known in English as liquid pressure gauges, are instruments used to measure the pressure of liquids. These devices are essential in a wide variety of industrial, scientific, and domestic applications where monitoring fluid pressure is critical for safety, efficiency, and proper operation. The fundamental principle behind most liquid pressure gauges relies on the mechanical force exerted by the liquid pressure.

There are several common types of liquid pressure gauges. One prevalent design is the Bourdon tube gauge. This gauge features a curved, flattened tube that deforms when subjected to pressure. As the liquid pressure increases, the tube tends to straighten, and this mechanical movement is translated through a linkage system to a pointer on a calibrated dial, indicating the pressure. Another type is the diaphragm gauge, which uses a flexible diaphragm that is deflected by the liquid pressure. This deflection is then amplified and transmitted to a pointer. Piston-type gauges, while less common for continuous monitoring, are used for high-pressure applications and often serve as calibration standards.

The selection of a liquid pressure gauge depends on factors such as the pressure range, the type of liquid being measured (corrosiveness, viscosity), the required accuracy, and the operating environment. Materials of construction are chosen to be compatible with the fluid to prevent corrosion or degradation. Applications for liquid pressure gauges are extensive, including monitoring water supply systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, chemical processing, and refrigeration systems, among many others. Regular calibration is necessary to ensure the continued accuracy and reliability of these crucial measuring instruments.
