Neoprenanzug

A Neoprenanzug, commonly known as a wetsuit in English, is a garment made from closed-cell neoprene rubber. It is primarily worn by surfers, divers, kayakers, and other watersports enthusiasts to provide thermal insulation, abrasion resistance, and buoyancy. The wetsuit works by trapping a thin layer of water between the wearer's skin and the neoprene. The body heats this trapped water, which then acts as an insulator, keeping the wearer warm.

Neoprene wetsuits come in various thicknesses, typically ranging from 2mm to 7mm, with thicker suits offering more warmth but less flexibility. The design can also vary, with different lengths for legs and arms (e.g., full suit, shorty) and various closure systems like zippers. The construction method and quality of the neoprene also influence the performance and price of a wetsuit. While neoprene is the most common material, some specialized suits may incorporate other materials for enhanced stretch or durability. Proper fit is crucial for a wetsuit to function effectively; a suit that is too loose will allow too much water to flush through, negating its insulating properties.
