Neobodo
Neobodo is a genus of small, free-living, single-celled flagellates in the kinetoplastid group of euglenozoans. Members of Neobodo are typically a few to several micrometers long and possess two flagella arising from the anterior end, one usually longer and used for locomotion, the other often providing sensory or adhesive functions. They contain a kinetoplast, a condensed mitochondrial DNA structure characteristic of kinetoplastids.
Ecology: Neobodo species are bacterivores that feed on bacteria and small protozoa, playing a role in microbial
Taxonomy: Neobodo is placed within the bodonids, a paraphyletic group of free-living kinetoplastids related to trypanosomatids.
Significance: As bacterivores, Neobodo contribute to bacterial turnover and nutrient cycling in aquatic ecosystems and are
