Nenäluu
Nenäluu is the Finnish word for the nasal bone, a paired bone in the human skull that forms the bridge of the nose. Each nenäluu is located superiorly and medially on the face, articulating with the frontal bone superiorly and the maxilla laterally. They are thin and irregular in shape, providing structural support to the upper part of the nose. Fractures of the nenäluu are relatively common, often resulting from direct trauma to the face, and can lead to changes in the appearance of the nose, as well as potential airway obstruction. The nenäluu ossifies from intramembranous ossification during fetal development. In adults, the two nenäluut fuse at the midline to form a single structure. The overlying skin and subcutaneous tissue are thin in this region, making the nenäluu susceptible to injury.
