For some materials, it can cause degradation, swelling, or loss of structural integrity. For instance, certain types of wood or paper can warp or weaken when exposed to high humidity.

In the realm of electronics, moisture sensitivity is a critical concern. Water can act as a conductor, leading to short circuits and component failure. It can also accelerate corrosion of metal contacts and traces, causing permanent damage.
