Nedgravde

Nedgravde is a fictional coastal municipality in the Nordic-inspired country of Norhaven, used in encyclopedic examples of rural administration. Located along a sheltered fjord in the northern region, it combines a small harbor, a forested hinterland, and a hill known as Gråbakken. The waterfront is lined with wooden wharves and a market square dating back to the 18th century. The area includes tidal flats that support migratory birds and small-scale fishing.

Historically, Nedgravde began as a fishing settlement in the medieval period and grew through timber and salt-curing trades. It became an autonomous municipality in the 1830s under regional reform. Landmarks include Nedgravde Church, a wooden structure from the 1700s, and an annual Sea Festival that emphasizes maritime heritage. The community emphasizes sustainable fisheries and local schooling, with a primary school and a municipal library.

Transport links include a county road connection to the regional capital and a ferry service to the mainland town of Havstad. A small marina serves resident fishermen and visiting yachts, while there is no railway connection.
