Navia

Navia is a municipality in the autonomous community of Asturias in northwestern Spain. It sits on the western coast of Asturias and includes coastal towns along the Cantabrian Sea as well as inland villages in the Navia River valley.

The town takes its name from the nearby Navia River.

Traditionally linked to fishing, shipbuilding, and agriculture, the area today maintains fishing and forestry activities and hosts local festivals and markets that reflect Asturian culture.

The Navia River is a major watercourse in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, with its estuary near the coast at the town of Navia on the Bay of Biscay.

The name Navia is also used as a surname and given name in some Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries.
