Naujaat

Naujaat is a hamlet in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut, Canada. It is located on the northeastern shore of Hudson Bay, at the mouth of the Thlewiaza River. The community was formerly known as Repulse Bay until its renaming in 2015. The name "Naujaat" means "seagull nesting place" in Inuktitut, referring to the abundant seagulls found in the area.

The population of Naujaat is primarily Inuit. The community's economy is largely based on traditional activities such as hunting, fishing, and trapping, as well as some government and service sector employment. Arts and crafts, particularly soapstone carvings, are also significant.

Naujaat is accessible by air and during the summer months, by sea. The hamlet has essential services including a school, a health centre, a general store, and a Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment. The unique geography and natural beauty of the surrounding area attract some tourism, with opportunities for wildlife viewing, including beluga whales and migratory birds. The establishment of the Tallurutiup Imanga National Marine Conservation Area nearby is of great importance to the region and its inhabitants.
