The related perfective verb nastat refers to a single, completed occurrence (often in future form such as nastane).

It is frequently paired with nouns like okamžik (moment), čas (time), or období (period), and with phrases such as nastává čas or nastává změna, indicating that a significant development is beginning or imminent.

The verb appears in various tenses through its imperfective partner nastávat, as well as with the perfective nastat for completed events.
