Narekatsis refers to the followers or adherents of the teachings and legacy of Saint Gregory of Narek. Saint Gregory of Narek, born in 950 and died in 1003, was an Armenian monk, poet, and theologian. He is most famous for his Book of Lamentations (original Armenian: Ողբերգութիւն), a collection of prayers and lyrical poems that explore themes of sin, divine love, and the human condition.
