Napata

Napata is an ancient city in Nubia, located on the east bank of the Nile near the modern town of Karima in Sudan, at the site of Jebel Barkal. It rose to prominence as the capital of the Kushite kingdom during the Napatan period, roughly from the 8th to the 4th centuries BCE. The city served as the political and religious heart of Kush, from which rulers extended influence into Upper Egypt and established the 25th Dynasty, often called the Nubian Dynasty.
