Nagyvárad
Nagyvárad is a former name of a city in Romania that was known for its significant historical importance, especially during the Ottoman rule in the region. Located in the present-day Oradea, the city has witnessed a series of name changes. It was initially called Vari, given by the Latin inhabitants of the region. Following a brutal siege by the King Andrew II of Hungary and the Fourth Crusade in 1220, the name Nagyvarad emerged, translating to "Greater War"). This was due to the city's struggles and vital resistance against foreign invaders.
