Naatriumsoolasid

Naatriumsoolasid is the Estonian term for sodium salts. These are chemical compounds formed by the reaction of sodium with an acid. Sodium is an alkali metal, and its salts are generally soluble in water. A wide variety of sodium salts exist, each with different chemical properties and applications.

The most common and well-known sodium salt is sodium chloride (NaCl), also known as common salt or lauasool. It plays a crucial role in human physiology, helping to maintain fluid balance and nerve function. Sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) finds use in detergents, textile dyeing, and paper manufacturing. Sodium nitrate (NaNO3) is employed as a fertilizer and in the production of explosives.

The properties and uses of a specific sodium salt depend on the anion it is paired with. Due to their prevalence and diverse applications, sodium salts are fundamental compounds in both biological systems and industrial processes.
