NVRlaitteisiin refers to Network Video Recorder devices. These are specialized computers designed to record video streams from digital cameras. NVRs are a core component of modern surveillance systems, offering a centralized solution for capturing, storing, and managing video footage.

Unlike their older counterparts, Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), NVRs work exclusively with IP (Internet Protocol) cameras. This means the cameras connect to the NVR over a network, typically an Ethernet connection. This networking capability allows for greater flexibility in camera placement and resolution, as well as the potential for remote viewing and access.

Key functions of an NVR include receiving video feeds from cameras, compressing and storing the data onto hard drives, and providing an interface for playback, search, and export of recorded footage. Many NVRs also offer features such as motion detection recording, scheduled recording, and event alerts.

The storage capacity of an NVR can vary greatly depending on the number of cameras connected, the recording resolution, and the type of compression used. Higher capacities are typically achieved by using multiple hard drives or larger capacity drives. Remote access to the NVR is often facilitated through dedicated mobile apps or web interfaces, allowing users to monitor their security cameras from anywhere with an internet connection. NVR systems are widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings for security and monitoring purposes.
