NSBs

NSBs is an acronym that may refer to multiple organizations and entities in different countries. The most widely known usage historically refers to Norges Statsbaner, the Norwegian State Railways.

For much of the 20th and early 21st centuries, NSB operated the national passenger rail network, along with a freight division, and its services were marketed under the NSB brand in timetables and tickets.

In 2019, the Norwegian government reorganized the rail sector and discontinued the NSB brand in favor of Vy, or Vy Group, with the remaining passenger services operated by Vy and its subsidiaries. After the change, NSB names largely disappeared from timetables, though the historical term NSB remains in literature and among rail enthusiasts.

Beyond Norway, NSBs can be used as the plural form of NSB acronyms for other organizations around the world. The meaning varies by country and field, and while some NSBs may denote governmental boards, statistical agencies, or transportation bodies, there is no single universally recognized definition.
