NCERT

NCERT stands for the National Council of Educational Research and Training. It is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Established in 1961, NCERT was created to assist and advise the central and state governments on academic matters related to school education and to promote national standards in teaching and learning.

The council's core activities include developing and publishing textbooks for school education from Class 1 to Class 12, providing classroom resources and teacher guides. The textbooks are widely used in CBSE-affiliated schools and are also adopted by many state boards and independent schools. NCERT also formulates and disseminates the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and related syllabi and guidelines to guide curriculum reform and instructional practices.

Beyond publishing, NCERT conducts and coordinates educational research, policy analysis, and evaluation studies. It produces materials on pedagogy, assessment, inclusive education, and other aspects of school education. The organization operates from its headquarters in New Delhi and through several regional institutes, and houses the Centre for Education Technology (CIET), which develops educational media, digital resources, and distance-education materials.

NCERT provides teacher education and professional development resources and collaborates with states and union territories to support the implementation of school-education reforms. Its publications are available in multiple Indian languages and are distributed through online platforms, ensuring broad access to curriculum and instructional materials.
