N44
N44 is an emission nebula complex in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. It is one of the prominent sites of recent star formation in the LMC, distinguished by bright H II regions and structures shaped by the radiation and winds of young, massive stars. Located in the southern sky, N44 lies at an approximate distance of about 50,000 parsecs (around 160,000 light-years) from Earth. The complex covers a substantial area and contains multiple stellar clusters that have formed over the past few million years.
The N44 region exhibits a range of interstellar features, including ionized gas, surrounding molecular clouds, and
Observational campaigns across multiple wavelengths—optical, infrared, and radio—have mapped the structure and composition of N44. Optical
