Nértékekhez

Nértékekhez is a term used in Hungarian value theory and normative ethics to describe a framework for evaluating actions, policies, or artifacts by their relation to a set of values. The concept emphasizes constructing and negotiating value-driven criteria rather than relying solely on consequences or duties.

The term combines érték (value) with the directional suffix -hez, yielding "toward values" or "to values." The neologism appears in Hungarian-language discussions of value alignment and ethical legitimacy.

At its core, Nértékekhez proposes that any decision should be justified against plural value commitments, with stakeholders participating in value elicitation, prioritization, and validation. The process yields a value map linking values to concrete criteria and metrics.

Applications occur in AI ethics for value alignment, in public policy to support legitimacy and accountability, and in organizational design to embed values into processes and products.

Critics warn that the approach can obscure disagreement by masking preferences as values, risk cultural bias, and present measurement challenges. Proponents respond with transparency requirements, pluralism, and iterative revision.
